Keys
The loss of a car key is an issue that is common and can cause a huge trouble. However the process of getting a new one from a dealer can be expensive. UK Auto Locksmiths will offer you a lower cost alternative and have the latest equipment and software that can help. To allow them to perform the job, you'll only need an VIN and proof of ownership. The other information they need is the type of key you require. They can supply flip keys, remotes, and even Fobs. They will also be able to help you with the programming of any new keys.
Remotes
Most Seat drivers keep a spare remote in the house or garage, but when they lose it getting replacement keys from a dealer is expensive and time consuming. This is because most dealers will programme the key using the car's computer which will need to be reset. However, many people buy second-hand keys off the internet that are not programmed to their car. This can be a much cheaper alternative to going to the dealer. But, these key will not start the car because they will not have a transponder chip inside them. You can see the chip (yellow) in this picture below, it is a Dual Inline Package or DIP 18 pin chip. There are also a diode, transistor and resonator, all these parts make up the key's circuit.
Immobilisers
The theft rate of cars began to decrease since car immobilisers became more popular in the latter part of the 1990s. However thieves are always on the lookout for ways to bypass security systems. They were able to get around the earlier immobiliser systems using scanners to find the transponder's code chip and then copying it onto an unlocked key, but since then technology has advanced and they've had to develop new ways to get around them.
Fortunately, the majority immobilisers we supply and fit are Thatcham Cat 2 approved. The Thatcham Research organisation has tested and certified them. This non-profit organisation is responsible for the grading system and the approval of security and alarm systems, including car immobilisers.
If the Thatcham approved immobiliser system is activated, it will send a coded signal to the Engine Management System of the vehicle, preventing the engine from starting unless the correct key is in place. This means that if the vehicle is "hot wired" following entry, the engine will cease to function within 30 seconds, making it impossible to start.
Of course, just like an electronic device, the immobiliser could develop issues, and sometimes the internal battery or key fob may need replacing. It is best to have professionals handle the task and make sure that everything is installed correctly and is working.
Transponders
A transponder is a piece of equipment which transmits an identifying signal upon being questioned. This helps maintain separation between aircrafts and also identifies an aircraft to air traffic controllers when it is using an active radar system. The identifying information sent back by the transponder differs based on the kind of system used.
Transponders can also be found in satellites and space vehicles to communicate with Earth-based systems like cell phone networks and other communication networks. These devices receive signals at different frequency and then retransmit signals in a different frequency like repeaters on land-based cell phone networks operate.

Sophisticated passive transponders are often found on board aircraft. They monitor the status of flight and provide navigational information like the aircraft's position, speed and altitude. Air traffic controllers use the information from these transponders control flight routes and ensure security.
Many personal keys include a transponder chip in addition to aircraft transponders. These chips are passive and do not require batteries. This lets the ECU to read the signal from the transponder when it is inserted in the ignition lock.
The flight deck on most airplanes contains a switch that pilots can press to switch their transponders either on or off. They can also choose an "ident" mode that lets the transponder to transmit its unique squawk code and helps it stand out a busy air-traffic control screen.
